Zara Khan is a Pakistani-American, Muslim, L.A.-based comedian, actor, writer, and public speaker. In her work, she shares her experiences as a single, mentally ill, Muslim woman battling challenges like discrimination, dating, and trying to win Burqini competitions. She has a Masters in Social Work and seeks to shatter stereotypes in her comedy.
She has performed all over the U.S., including at the Comedy Store, Ice House, Hollywood Improv, Ontario Improv, Comedy Works (Denver), and Comedy Corner Underground (Minneapolis). She was in comedy festivals including the Laughlin Laughfest, San Diego Comedy Festival, Antelope Valley Comedy Festival, and Baltimore Comedy Festival. She has also given 2 TEDx talks and her one-woman show called “Same Shiite, Different Day” is featured on “Signature Bits,” available on Spotify and Amazon. Lastly, she is a recipient of the prestigious UCB Diversity Scholarship.
Zara is also a successful producer. Her show, “The Many Faces of Muslim Women,” was featured in OC Weekly. Her recurring online show, “Combating Coronavirus: Virtual Comedy Show” was featured in the LA Times.
She co-hosts The Suicide Prevention Punchline podcast, a funny mental health show with Frank King, former writer for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
